Carowinds visitors planning a Halloween-season trip should budget beyond admission if haunted mazes are the priority. The park’s 2026 SCarowinds page lists the nighttime event on select nights through November 1, with a Haunted Attractions Pass starting at $10 and a combined admission-and-mazes bundle starting at $55. Online purchases may also carry processing fees of up to $9.99 plus tax.
The distinction matters because ordinary park admission covers rides, live entertainment and the outdoor scare zones, but not entry to the indoor haunted mazes. The official event page says the maze pass is valid only for the selected night. It also states that the pass does not include The Conjuring: Beyond Fear, which requires a separate ticket or reservation.
The principal new maze is Jason: Blood Reign, an experience based on the Friday the 13th franchise. Axios Charlotte reported that construction began in early summer and that the attraction uses practical sets, smoke, simulated water and as many as 20 to 40 performers. The outlet counted six haunted mazes, five scare zones and six live shows in this year’s nighttime lineup. Carowinds advises that SCarowinds is not recommended for children younger than 13, although every guest needs paid admission.
Rules to know before arriving
Carowinds’ current park policies require guests age 15 or younger to enter and remain with a chaperone who is at least 21. One chaperone may supervise no more than five guests age 15 or younger, must show government-issued photo identification, remain in the park and be reachable by phone. The policy is in effect daily by 2 p.m., though the park may enforce it earlier.
During SCarowinds, guests who leave after 7 p.m. cannot re-enter, including for forgotten belongings or weather-related departures. Guests age 13 and older may not wear costume masks, full face paint or costume attire, and recording devices are prohibited inside haunted mazes. Those restrictions make advance planning especially important for groups arriving in costume or separating during the evening.
Families seeking a daytime alternative can use the same admission on eligible dates for Tricks and Treats, which runs on select days through November 1. The event features a trick-or-treat trail, crafts and family entertainment before the nighttime scares begin.
