SeaWorld San Antonio is entering the final weekend of two very different Halloween programs. The park’s family-focused Halloween Spooktacular and its more intense Howl-O-Scream are both scheduled through Sunday, Nov. 1.

For families, Spooktacular is the daytime option. SeaWorld says it is included with park admission and features trick-or-treating, kid-friendly entertainment, character appearances and the Spookley the Square Pumpkin maze. Trick-or-treating is intended for children age 12 and younger, with candy available while supplies last. Reusable bags are sold in park shops, so families should not assume a complimentary bag is provided.

Costume rules change with the experience

The daytime event allows guests to dress in costume, but costume masks and hoods are prohibited. SeaWorld also says face painting is not allowed unless it is performed by park artists. Visitors planning to remain after dark should pay particular attention to the separate Howl-O-Scream rule: the nighttime event states that costumes are not allowed.

Because the two programs share the same park day, anyone arriving in a daytime costume and staying into the evening should ask a team member how the nighttime restriction will be handled before entering the adult-oriented areas.

One daytime-to-nighttime element is the park’s Día de los Muertos display, which SeaWorld says is available during both periods. It features alebrijes, Mexican folk music and sugar-skull characters, offering a less frightening option for visitors moving through the park as evening approaches.

Nighttime scares begin at 7 p.m.

Howl-O-Scream begins at 7 p.m., with entry available at 6 p.m., and runs to park close on selected Fridays through Sundays. SeaWorld says a regular single-day ticket includes nighttime admission. The event is aimed at a mature audience and contains depictions of violence, gore and blood.

The official event page lists five haunted houses, eight “Terror-tories,” three shows and seven themed bars. Those offerings are included within the broader event, although optional upgrades are sold for priority access and reserved seating. Visitors who want only the family experience should plan their departure before the evening atmosphere changes.

SeaWorld’s hours page warns that schedules are updated periodically and advises guests to select a specific date for current showtimes. With Halloween falling during the closing weekend, checking the live schedule before leaving home is more reliable than using a previously saved itinerary.
