Kentucky Kingdom will open its expanded fall festival on Thursday, October 1, bringing Louisville’s original Jack O’Lantern Spectacular inside the amusement park for the first time. The event runs Wednesdays through Sundays through November 1, and one admission now covers both the carved-pumpkin trail and the park’s broader seasonal program.
The central planning change is the combination of two experiences. Kentucky Kingdom’s official event guide says the quarter-mile Spectacular trail will display more than 5,000 hand-carved pumpkins under the 2026 theme “Planet Pumpkin: A Glo-bal Adventure.” More than 1,000 additional illuminated pumpkins, larger sculptures, trick-or-treat stations, a hay maze, live entertainment and over 30 operating rides are spread through the rest of the park.
The park operates from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 5 to 10 p.m. Fridays, 2 to 10 p.m. Saturdays and 4 to 9 p.m. Sundays. The Jack O’Lantern trail itself opens at 6 p.m. Visitors should confirm their date on the operating calendar, because hours and ride availability can change.
Daily admission is advertised from $19.99 and includes the trail; there is no separate timed-entry reservation. Parking is not included. The park lists parking at $15 per car at the Kentucky Exposition Center gate, with same-day re-entry, or $13 online for a single entry. All 2026 season passes and the 2027 Diamond Pass include unlimited event admission and free parking, while other pass products have different benefits. Louisville Tourism’s official events calendar also lists the October 1 opening for travelers building a wider city itinerary.
Families should review the entry rules before buying. Guests 15 and younger must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 21, carries government-issued identification and remains in the park; one chaperone may supervise no more than six minors. Family-friendly costumes are allowed, but masks are limited to children under 12, and weapon-like props are prohibited. The park also advises visitors with sensory sensitivities to expect crowds, loud music and changing light levels.
The event is rain or shine, although rides may close during unsafe weather. The trail is paved and accommodates wheelchairs and strollers, and guests may move through it at their own pace. Hurricane Bay is closed for the remainder of 2026, according to the park’s current visitor information, so visitors should plan for the theme park and fall programming rather than water attractions.
