SeaWorld San Diego visitors this weekend need to choose between two different Halloween programs—and buy the right admission for each. The family-oriented Halloween Spooktacular runs during regular park hours every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through November 1 and is included with daytime admission. The adult-targeted Howl-O-Scream runs on select nights through October 31 and requires its own ticket.
That distinction matters for guests trying to attend both on the same date. A Howl-O-Scream ticket permits entry beginning at 6 p.m., with the nighttime event starting at 7 p.m., but it does not include daytime park access. Regular admission, annual passes and Fun Cards do not include Howl-O-Scream. SeaWorld also says daytime guests holding a night ticket must exit and pass through security again at the dedicated event entrance when the park closes later than 5 p.m.
What daytime admission includes
Spooktacular is designed for all ages and includes trick-or-treat stations, a pumpkin patch, character encounters, live entertainment and dance parties. The 2026 program adds a Baby Shark Halloween show and meet-and-greets. General viewing is part of the event, while optional reserved seating for the 30-minute show is currently advertised at $9.99 per guest age 3 or older; every attendee needs a reservation, and park admission is separate.
What the night ticket changes
Howl-O-Scream single-night tickets are currently advertised from $45.99 before taxes and fees, with prices varying by date. The operator describes the event as intended for adults and not recommended for children younger than 13, although minors may enter and receive no child discount. Haunted houses, scare zones, live entertainment and selected coasters are included. Animal viewing areas are closed during the event.
The nighttime rules are stricter than the daytime program. Guests may not wear costumes or face paint, and bags larger than 8 by 5 inches are prohibited, subject to a medical-item exception and screening. SeaWorld lists Electric Eel, Emperor and Arctic Rescue as operating weather permitting. Visitors should check the daily calendar before traveling because park hours, attraction availability and event details can change.
