Volusia County has opened registration for a winter break camp at the Gemini Springs Springhouse in DeBary, offering six weekdays of activities for children ages 5 to 12. The county’s October 15 camp announcement lists December 21–23 and December 28–30, with daily hours from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The fee is $115 per child. Five-year-olds must be enrolled in kindergarten. Families are asked to send lunch, snacks and water each day. The announced schedule covers those six dates, rather than every weekday of the holiday period, an important distinction for parents arranging care around work commitments.

The county lists playground activities, arts and crafts, an ice cream party and field trips to Sunshine Bowling Alley and DeBary Hall Historic Site among the planned activities. Those are the activities described for this program; the announcement does not provide a detailed day-by-day itinerary or identify every condition that could affect a particular outing.

Enrollment carries an important qualification. The county needs a minimum of 40 participants for the camp to run, and says parents will be notified by December 11 if that threshold is not met and the program is canceled. Forty is the stated minimum, not a published maximum capacity or a claim that 40 places remain available.

The county’s current recreation page separately identifies the 2026 winter camp, says registration is open and repeats the cancellation condition. It links to the registration system and a camp flyer. Families should use that current program page when reviewing the offering, rather than relying on older summer or spring camp information also displayed there.

The Springhouse is at 37 Dirksen Drive. The St. Johns River Water Management District’s park record confirms the DeBary address and describes Gemini Springs as a county park associated with two springs. Its general public-access information is separate from enrollment in the organized camp. Access to the park does not itself reserve a child’s place or substitute for camp registration.

For families comparing options, the practical considerations are the child’s age and kindergarten status, the six specific dates, the ten-hour daily window, the fee and the enrollment contingency. Parents who need care outside that window or on other holiday dates should not assume the county program provides it.

The announcement directs families to register online and provides 386-736-5953 for more information. Questions about available spaces, pickup arrangements, accommodations, refunds or other terms should be resolved with program staff before relying on the camp. The public notice does not establish answers to all of those questions.

This report draws on the county’s camp notice and current recreation page, with location context from the water management district. TAQ has not completed a registration, checked remaining capacity or independently evaluated the program’s staffing or operations. The announced enrollment minimum makes checking later county communications especially relevant as December approaches.
