Universal Studios Florida begins October with a short daytime schedule and a full Halloween Horror Nights slate tonight. The most useful change for event guests is the expanded early-access timeline: eligible visitors can now enter at 2 p.m. and reach three haunted houses hours before the official 6:30 p.m. opening. Two other planning notes are close behind—a DreamWorks Land show begins a closure Saturday, and Universal’s fall Harry Potter presentation has one month remaining.

HHN early access starts at 2 p.m.

Universal’s official park calendar lists Universal Studios Florida from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, with no Early Park Admission. Halloween Horror Nights then runs as a separately ticketed event; the official event page lists the 2026 season on select nights through November 1, and Universal’s event guidance sets the regular opening at 6:30 p.m.

The more consequential detail is in Universal’s 2026 HHN access guide. A valid Scream Early ticket allows one-time park admission beginning at 2 p.m., while Stay & Scream guests need both valid daytime park admission and HHN admission for the same night. Universal says wristbands are required. Stranger Things 5, Hellraiser and Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control are scheduled to begin admitting eligible guests at 2 p.m.; more queues open at 4 p.m. and additional houses begin opening at 5:15 p.m.

Those times are an official operating plan, not a guarantee. Universal directs guests to its app for the latest house openings and locations, and recommends arriving at least an hour before the 6:30 p.m. gate opening if they are not using early access.

A new scare-zone guide offers a useful peak-wait strategy

Universal published a fresh guide to all four 2026 scare zones on September 30. It identifies Infernal Carnival of Nightmares near the entrance, Downtown Clowntown, FORTNITEMARES and Sideshow of Decay, along with street experiences such as zombie carhops near Mel’s Drive-In and the Club Horror party zone.

The service takeaway is straightforward: when house waits peak, use the street experiences or a live show rather than standing in another long queue. Universal’s own planning advice recommends that approach, while cautioning that showtimes and locations can change in the app.

Po Live begins a closure Saturday

Families planning DreamWorks Land should note a newly relevant operational change. Universal’s temporary-closure list says Po Live begins a closure on October 3. The official calendar does not currently provide a reopening date. That primary record is the only firm timing Universal has published, so visitors should check the calendar again before treating the show as available later this month.

Dark Arts continues through November 1

Over at Islands of Adventure, Universal says Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle continues on select dates through November 1. The official Hogsmeade page confirms the limited-time window but does not promise a performance every night. Visitors should verify the day’s entertainment schedule before crossing parks specifically for the projection show.
