Walt Disney World begins October with a new BoardWalk venue, a milestone anniversary and two schedule details that can materially change a park day. The biggest new arrival is Hurly-Burly, which Disney says opens today at Disney’s BoardWalk. Meanwhile, Magic Kingdom has an early public closing for a sold-out Halloween party, and EPCOT hosts the final night of Smash Mouth’s festival run.
Hurly-Burly opens at Disney’s BoardWalk
Disney’s official opening preview says Hurly-Burly begins welcoming guests October 1 in the former Atlantic Dance Hall space. The venue is designed to change character over the course of the day: afternoons emphasize family trivia and games, while live music takes over after 9 p.m. for guests 21 and older.
Disney says the venue will operate on a walk-up basis, so visitors should not count on securing it through advance dining reservations. The menu centers on small plates and drinks, including sliders, pizza and desserts. Because this is an official opening announcement and today is the first day of operation, details such as entertainment timing and access procedures remain subject to same-day changes.
Walt Disney World marks 55 years
October 1 is also Walt Disney World’s 55th anniversary. Disney’s official anniversary history and merchandise guide notes that the resort opened on October 1, 1971, with Magic Kingdom, two resort hotels and the first phase of the Vacation Kingdom.
For visitors looking for the new anniversary collection, Disney says it is available at the Emporium in Magic Kingdom and Creations Shop at EPCOT while supplies last, with select products also planned for DisneyStore.com. Disney has presented the milestone primarily through its historical feature and merchandise release, not as a separate ticketed anniversary event, so guests should avoid assuming that a full-day celebration or special entertainment schedule comes with the date.
Magic Kingdom closes at 6 p.m. for a sold-out party
The official Walt Disney World calendar lists Magic Kingdom’s regular operating hours today as 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The park then shifts to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party from 7 p.m. to midnight. Disney says party-ticket holders may enter as early as 4 p.m., and the event does not require separate daytime park admission or a park reservation.
All 2026 party dates are listed as sold out. Day guests without party tickets should plan to leave by the 6 p.m. close and should not expect to buy admission at the gate. Anyone seeking a full evening in a theme park will want to compare the other parks’ hours and reservation availability before changing plans.
Smash Mouth finishes its EPCOT concert run
At EPCOT, Smash Mouth plays the second and final night of its Eat to the Beat engagement. Disney’s official concert schedule lists performances at 5:30, 6:45 and 8 p.m. at America Gardens Theatre. The shows are included with valid EPCOT admission, though a park reservation may be required depending on the ticket used. Seating is limited and not guaranteed.
