Islands of Adventure visitors planning an October trip should remove Jurassic Park River Adventure from their touring list. Universal’s current closure calendar lists the water ride unavailable through Nov. 19, 2026.
The dated notice appears on Universal Orlando’s official hours and closures page. The company does not promise that a listed end date is an exact reopening date, so guests visiting immediately after Nov. 19 should still confirm the attraction’s status in the Universal app before arrival.
The Jurassic area still has a major coaster
The closure does not shut the entire Jurassic Park section. Universal’s Islands of Adventure overview continues to list Jurassic World VelociCoaster among the park’s principal thrill rides. Families should distinguish that operating attraction from River Adventure when reviewing maps, wait times and Express eligibility.
Guests who had planned River Adventure as a shared family attraction should also check height requirements before substituting a coaster. A replacement should match the group’s comfort and accessibility needs, not simply its location on the map. Skull Island: Reign of Kong and experiences in Seuss Landing may provide alternatives for parties with different thrill preferences.
Build the day around available headliners
The park’s other major draws include Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, The Incredible Hulk Coaster and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man. Actual availability and posted waits can change during the day, making it better to prioritize two or three must-do attractions than to assume every headline ride will operate continuously.
Universal’s Hogsmeade guide also lists Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle on select dates through Nov. 1. The nighttime show is not guaranteed every evening; visitors should verify the date and performance times in the app before shifting the entire itinerary toward a late Hogsmeade finish.
Early admission can change the order
Universal’s calendar may provide Early Park Admission to eligible hotel guests and passholders on selected dates, with participating attractions subject to change. When it is offered at Islands of Adventure, use the extra period for an eligible operating attraction rather than walking first to the closed River Adventure entrance.
The practical October plan is to treat River Adventure as unavailable, choose a replacement appropriate for the group, and preserve flexibility for weather or operational interruptions. Check the Florida Theme Parks hub for continuing park-specific updates. The American Quorum is independent and is not affiliated with Universal Orlando Resort.
