Disney’s Blizzard Beach is the operating Walt Disney World water park Friday, Oct. 2, with a seven-hour day that makes arrival time more important than at the resort’s longer-operating theme parks.

The official Blizzard Beach calendar lists hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Disney’s broader water-parks page confirms that Typhoon Lagoon is temporarily closed for refurbishment and directs water-park visitors to Blizzard Beach.

A short operating day favors an opening-time plan

With only seven scheduled hours, losing the morning can remove a meaningful share of the day. Visitors who want major slides should arrive before opening, allow time for parking and entry, then prioritize higher-demand attractions before taking a long lunch or settling into the wave pool.

Disney currently advertises a one-day water-park ticket at $74 per adult and a seasonal pass at $89 plus tax, valid through May 15, 2027 with blockout dates. The small advertised price gap can make the pass relevant for guests expecting a second eligible visit, but buyers should compare taxes, blockouts and their actual travel dates before deciding.

Dining availability may be narrower than park hours

Not every food location necessarily operates for the full park day. Disney’s I.C. Expeditions page, for example, says that location may not open during periods of lower attendance and advises checking the My Disney Experience app on the visit date.

That makes a same-day app check useful for more than ride planning. Guests with dietary needs or a preferred meal stop should confirm what is operating before building their schedule around one counter-service location.

Weather can also change water-park operations quickly. Disney’s published hours are the starting point, not a guarantee that every slide will operate continuously. Visitors should recheck the calendar and app before departure and keep a flexible backup plan.

For Oct. 2, the practical choice is straightforward: Blizzard Beach is open 10 a.m.–5 p.m., while Typhoon Lagoon is closed. Arriving near opening, checking dining availability and confirming ticket terms will preserve the most usable time.
