SeaWorld San Diego’s Howl-O-Scream starts at 7 p.m. on event nights, but ticket holders may enter through a dedicated gate beginning at 6 p.m.—a one-hour planning window that does not convert the night ticket into daytime admission.
The park’s official event page says Howl-O-Scream runs on select nights through Oct. 31 and is a separately ticketed, adult-targeted event. Annual passes and Fun Cards do not provide entry by themselves, although pass members may find discounts through their account portal. The operator says the event is not intended for children, but minors are admitted at the same rate and refunds are not offered if the experience proves too intense.
Choose the ticket by time, not just price
SeaWorld’s current ticket page displays date-specific single-night admission from $45.99, a two-ticket any-night offer from $46.99 per person, and an any-night ticket at $66.99. An unlimited product is listed at $112.99. Prices, inventory and discounts can change, and the posted amounts exclude parking, taxes and service fees.
Those night products generally cover 6 p.m. through closing and do not include daytime admission, tours or dining. Guests seeking both portions of the park day should select a combination product; the date-specific day-and-night ticket is currently shown at $105.99, while an any-day plus any-night option is listed at $149.99.
The night-event terms also prohibit guest costumes, rain checks and readmission. Tickets are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Because the event entry is to the right of the main entrance, guests arriving near 6 p.m. should follow the dedicated Howl-O-Scream queue rather than assume the daytime gate is the correct line.
A separate family event runs during the day
Families seeking a less intense program should distinguish Howl-O-Scream from Halloween Spooktacular. SeaWorld schedules that daytime event every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Nov. 1 and includes it with regular park admission. It offers trick-or-treating and seasonal family entertainment, while the nighttime event requires its own ticket.
The practical decision is therefore three-part: daytime admission for Spooktacular, night admission for Howl-O-Scream, or a combination product covering both. Guests should confirm the selected date and current hours before purchase because operating schedules can change.
Visitors comparing nearby attractions can also use TAQ’s California Theme Parks page; the standard parks service supplies current wait times, hours and local weather.
