Superior Shores Waterpark has closed for the rest of 2026, meaning Valleyfair’s fall visitors should plan for amusement rides and seasonal events without access to the water attractions. The operator’s waterpark page now states that the Shakopee attraction is finished for the season and will return in 2027.
The closure is separate from Valleyfair’s continuing fall schedule. The official operating calendar shows that Superior Shores last opened Sept. 7, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Valleyfair itself remains open on selected dates: it listed regular park hours from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20, followed by Halloween programming on weekends beginning Sept. 25. Visitors should check the calendar again before traveling because operating days and hours can change.
The distinction matters because Superior Shores is inside Valleyfair and normally comes with park admission. The waterpark debuted under its new name in May as part of a major expansion. Valleyfair’s opening announcement described 13 new slides and attractions, bringing the property to 24 water experiences. The additions included Lighthouse Landing, with three tube slides and a dual-lane mat racer, and Minnow Bay, a lagoon with eight smaller slides and interactive water elements.
What pass buyers should know
Valleyfair is already selling 2027 season passes, but buying one now does not reopen Superior Shores during the fall. The park’s current pass page lists the entry-level 2027 Hero Pass from $85.99, including the stated processing fee but before applicable taxes and fees. It advertises admission for the rest of 2026, including ValleyScare, and says season passes include both theme-park and waterpark admission. The waterpark component therefore becomes useful again when Superior Shores resumes seasonal operation in 2027.
For families weighing a remaining fall visit, the practical choice is between Valleyfair’s daytime and Halloween offerings rather than a combined amusement-park and waterpark day. The calendar lists Tricks and Treats during daytime hours and separately scheduled ValleyScare nights on selected dates, but neither changes the posted waterpark closure.
