SeaWorld San Antonio’s Halloween season reaches a useful crossover point September 18: the park’s new Baby Shark family show and character meet-and-greets begin during the daytime, while the adult-oriented Howl-O-Scream takes over after 7 p.m. Both programs are included with regular park admission, but their costume rules and intended audiences are notably different.

The [official Spooktacular schedule](https://seaworld.com/san-antonio/events/halloween-spooktacular/?ref=theamericanquorum.com) lists the new live show at the Rescue Jr. Stage and meet-and-greets with Baby Shark and Pinkfong as opening September 18\. Spooktacular runs on select dates through November 1 and also includes a Spookley the Square Pumpkin maze, daytime trick-or-treating and a Día de los Muertos display.

## Families should note the age and costume rules

Trick-or-treating is limited to guests age 12 and younger and remains subject to candy availability. Costumes are permitted during Spooktacular, but guests 13 and older may not wear costume masks or hoods. Face painting is allowed only when performed by park artists. Those rules matter for families planning to remain in the park into the evening because Howl-O-Scream does not permit costumes at all.

The park’s general [visitor policies](https://seaworld.com/san-antonio/park-info/park-policy/?ref=theamericanquorum.com) also require guests younger than 14 to be accompanied by an adult. Outside food, drinks, glass containers and large coolers are generally prohibited, with exceptions available for medical diets and baby formula after consultation with a park employee. Bags and strollers are subject to inspection.

## Howl-O-Scream begins at 7 p.m.

[Howl-O-Scream operates Fridays through Sundays](https://seaworld.com/san-antonio/events/howl-o-scream/?ref=theamericanquorum.com) on select dates from September 11 through November 1, beginning at 7 p.m. and continuing until park close. The nighttime event is included with single-day admission and annual passes. SeaWorld describes it as intended for mature audiences because of depictions of violence, gore and blood.

The 2026 lineup includes five haunted houses, eight scare zones, three shows and seven themed bars. Visitors do not need a separate ticket to enter the houses, but optional priority-access products cost extra. The park’s [upgrade page](https://seaworld.com/san-antonio/events/howl-o-scream/fear-passes?ref=theamericanquorum.com) currently displays a $49.99 Fear Pass for one priority entry per haunted house, a $59.99 Fear Pass Plus and an $89.99 Ultimate Fear Pass. Admission is required and is not included with any of those upgrades; products are valid only for the selected date.

Visitors planning a full day should therefore treat 7 p.m. as the operational dividing line: children’s programming and costumes fit the daytime event, while the evening changes to a more intense, no-costume environment. Exact park hours and entertainment can change, so checking the operating calendar before travel remains advisable.
