Six Flags Great Adventure begins Fright Fest on Friday, September 18, but visitors need to choose their ticket carefully: park admission covers the nighttime atmosphere, scare zones, shows and rides, while entry to the haunted mazes requires a separate Haunted Attractions Pass or a bundle that includes it.

The Jackson Township park will run [Fright Fest on select nights through November 1](https://www.sixflags.com/greatadventure/events/fright-fest?ref=theamericanquorum.com). Six Flags says the event is not recommended for children under 13, and every visitor needs paid park admission regardless of age. The operator currently lists a park-admission-and-mazes bundle from $80, plus processing fees and taxes; an all-season haunted-attractions pass starts at $75 plus a processing fee. Prices and availability can change by date.

The maze pass is the key distinction. According to the park’s [September 15 visitor guide](https://www.sixflags.com/blog/six-flags-great-adventure-s-guide-to-fright-fest-presented-by-snickers-r?ref=theamericanquorum.com), scare zones, live shows and nighttime rides are included with admission, but the indoor haunted mazes are not. An Express upgrade is available for guests seeking priority access to the mazes.

This year’s maze lineup includes two new licensed experiences, *Jason: Blood Reign* and *Final Destination: Death’s Playground*, alongside returning attractions based on *The Conjuring* universe and *Army of the Dead*. The park also lists five outdoor scare zones and nighttime operation of major coasters including Jersey Devil Coaster, Nitro, El Toro, Medusa and Flash: Vertical Velocity. Ride availability remains subject to weather, maintenance and operating conditions.

## A daytime option for families

Families with younger children do not need to buy into the nighttime horror program. Great Adventure’s [Kids Boo Fest and Oktoberfest](https://www.sixflags.com/blog/fall-fun-returns-to-six-flags-great-adventure?ref=theamericanquorum.com) already run on select days through November 1 and are included with regular park admission. Kids Boo Fest offers trick-or-treating, games, activities and daytime entertainment, while Oktoberfest adds seasonal food, beverages and entertainment; food and drinks cost extra.

Before leaving home, visitors should confirm the operating calendar and event date, then review the park’s [current policies](https://www.sixflags.com/greatadventure/code-of-conduct?ref=theamericanquorum.com) for bags, costumes, re-entry and chaperones. Six Flags directs guests to its mobile app for same-day showtimes, navigation and attraction information.
