# ValleyScare Opens September 19 With Separate Ticket and Chaperone Rules

Valleyfair’s nighttime ValleyScare event opens Saturday, September 19, with a separate admission requirement and a full closure between the daytime park and the Halloween program. Visitors planning to stay through the evening cannot simply remain inside after daytime operations end.

The park’s official [operating calendar](https://valleyfair.enchantedparks.com/park-info/calendar-hours/?ref=theamericanquorum.com) lists regular park hours from noon to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, followed by ValleyScare from 7 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. The water park is closed. ValleyScare is then scheduled on Friday and Saturday nights through October 31.

## A separate ticket and a required exit

Valleyfair’s [event-entry rules](https://valleyfair.enchantedparks.com/park-info/valleyscare-visitation-information/?ref=theamericanquorum.com) state that all daytime guests must leave when the park closes at 5:30 p.m. On applicable Saturdays, guests holding a ValleyScare ticket or qualifying season pass may re-enter through the Steel Venom gates during the transition. A daytime ticket alone does not provide evening admission.

The operator says ValleyScare admission includes the haunted mazes, scare zones, Halloween entertainment and selected rides after dark. Its [event guide](https://valleyfair.enchantedparks.com/valleyscare/?ref=theamericanquorum.com) lists five indoor mazes and several outdoor scare zones. The event is described as intense and potentially unsuitable for younger guests.

Guests age 17 or younger must arrive with a chaperone who is at least 21\. One chaperone may accompany no more than five minors, must show a physical government-issued photo ID with a birth date, and must remain with the group throughout the visit. Digital pictures of identification are not accepted.

Bag limits are also narrower than normal daytime expectations. Clear plastic bags must be smaller than 12 by 12 by 6 inches; non-clear wristlets or clutches may be no larger than 5 by 8 by 2 inches. All bags are subject to search. ValleyScare also has a no-re-entry rule once a guest leaves.

## Family event starts the following weekend

Families seeking a daytime Halloween program should note that Tricks and Treats does not begin on opening weekend. Valleyfair’s calendar lists its first sessions September 26 from noon to 5:30 p.m. and September 27 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. That event includes trick-or-treat trails, family entertainment and activities with regular admission or an eligible pass.
