# Six Flags America Is Closed; Redevelopment Has No Reopening Date

**Maryland visitors should not plan a 2026 trip to Six Flags America:** the Bowie amusement park and its Hurricane Harbor water park are permanently closed, and the 515-acre property is moving toward redevelopment rather than a new operating season.

The parks' final operating day was November 2, 2025\. ## What is planned for the former park

A replacement theme park has not been announced. The latest detailed reporting says the prospective owners are exploring a mix of entertainment, shopping and housing, with plans still being developed and county officials gathering community input. There is no published reopening date, attraction roster or admission product for the Bowie site. Travelers who encounter old Six Flags America listings, cached ticket pages or legacy directions should treat them as historical rather than current.

The closure also removed Maryland's only park in this production roster, so families looking for an in-state amusement-park day should verify current destinations and hours before traveling. The former park's rides and familiar skyline may remain visible during the transition, but that does not indicate public access.
