# Hogwarts Express Requires Park-to-Park Admission

Universal Studios Florida visitors can walk through Diagon Alley with a one-park ticket, but they cannot use the Hogwarts Express to reach Islands of Adventure unless their admission includes park-to-park access.

Universal’s [Diagon Alley guide](https://www.universalorlando.com/web/en/us/theme-parks/universal-studios-florida/the-wizarding-world-of-harry-potter-diagon-alley?ref=theamericanquorum.com) states that the train connects King’s Cross Station at Universal Studios Florida with Hogsmeade Station at Islands of Adventure. Because the attraction crosses between two separately gated parks, a single-park ticket does not qualify for boarding.

## The train is an attraction and transportation

The Hogwarts Express is more than a shuttle. Its onboard experience changes with the direction of travel, so riding from King’s Cross and returning from Hogsmeade provides two versions. Each boarding still requires valid park-to-park admission, and operating conditions can affect service.

Visitors who bought one-park-per-day admission should compare the upgrade cost before building the train into an itinerary. If an upgrade is not worthwhile, Diagon Alley remains accessible inside Universal Studios Florida without the train. The park’s official page lists Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, Ollivanders and entertainment within the land as separate experiences.

## Do not confuse rail access with entry to Epic Universe

Park-to-park access for the Hogwarts Express concerns Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. The [Hogsmeade guide](https://www.universalorlando.com/web/en/us/theme-parks/islands-of-adventure/the-wizarding-world-of-harry-potter-hogsmeade?ref=theamericanquorum.com) likewise identifies the train as the link between those two parks. Epic Universe is not connected by the railway and may require a different admission product depending on the ticket purchased.

That distinction matters when comparing multiday offers. A product advertising access to several Universal parks does not necessarily allow same-day movement between every gate. Read the ticket’s one-park-per-day or park-to-park language rather than relying on the number of parks named in the offer.

## Check the operating calendar before crossing

Universal’s [current closure calendar](https://www.universalorlando.com/web/en/us/plan-your-visit/hours-information/park-hours?ref=theamericanquorum.com) lists a Hogwarts Express closure on Nov. 4, 2026\. Travelers visiting that day should plan to use the main entrances and Universal CityWalk route between Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure if their tickets permit entry to both parks.

Halloween Horror Nights dates can also shorten the regular Universal Studios Florida day. Guests hoping to finish at Islands of Adventure should make the transfer before the daytime park closes rather than assuming the train will continue carrying day guests through the evening event transition.
