Wood-products manufacturer Adeptus USA plans to invest $215.56 million in its first South Carolina facility, a project state officials say will create 217 jobs in Anderson County. The [Governor’s Office announced](https://governor.sc.gov/news/2026-10/adeptus-usa-selects-anderson-county-establish-first-south-carolina-operation?ref=theamericanquorum.com) the project Oct. 1 and said operations are expected to begin in the second quarter of 2027.

The company will occupy a facility at 1205 Hamby Road in Honea Path, bringing a previously closed industrial property back into use. Adeptus plans to make processed pine products for construction and millwork, including moulding, boards, shiplap and panels. [FOX Carolina independently reported](https://www.foxcarolina.com/2026/09/30/wood-products-manufacturer-create-over-200-jobs-with-upstate-facility/?ref=theamericanquorum.com) the investment, job estimate, location and production plans.

Hiring will be handled during the startup phase by workforce firm HTI, with positions posted as they become available. The announcement does not provide a wage range, hiring timetable by occupation or a schedule for reaching the full 217-job commitment. Those details will determine how the project’s headline employment figure translates into near-term opportunities for residents.

South Carolina is supporting the development with public incentives. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job-development credits tied to the project and awarded Anderson County an $850,000 Closing Fund grant for building improvements. The [Business Facilities account](https://businessfacilities.com/adeptus-usa-selects-south-carolina-for-216m-wood-products-operation/?ref=theamericanquorum.com) confirmed both incentives and the planned reuse of the closed facility. The state announcement did not disclose the maximum dollar value of the job-development credits.

The credits and grant serve different purposes. The county grant is intended for physical building work, while job-development credits are connected to eligible employment and payroll activity after operations begin. Without the final incentive agreement, taxpayers cannot yet compare the full potential credit value with the number, pay and duration of the promised jobs.

The project also connects manufacturing policy with South Carolina’s forestry economy. The [Department of Agriculture says](https://agriculture.sc.gov/adeptus-usa-selects-anderson-county-to-establish-first-south-carolina-operation/?ref=theamericanquorum.com) agriculture and forestry together support nearly 260,000 jobs and generate an estimated $51.8 billion in annual economic impact statewide. Adeptus said access to the local forestry community was among the reasons it selected Anderson County.

For the county, the proposal adds a sizable capital project while reviving an existing site rather than starting on undeveloped land. That can shorten some construction work, but the company must still complete improvements, install production equipment, hire employees and begin commercial operations before the announcement becomes a functioning plant. The second-quarter 2027 target leaves roughly nine months for that startup process.

The next accountability points are the final incentive agreement, verified capital spending and payroll, and the timing of job creation. Job-development credits are generally earned against employment and wage performance rather than paid solely on announcement, while the Closing Fund grant supports up-front building work. Public reporting on those milestones will show whether the project delivers the 217 positions and $215.56 million investment now projected.
