# Mississippi Deploys Record College-Game Security for LSU–Ole Miss

**Mississippi is deploying what state officials describe as the largest law-enforcement presence ever assembled for a college football game in the state for Saturday night’s LSU–Ole Miss matchup in Oxford.** The [Associated Press reported](https://apnews.com/article/lsu-ole-miss-football-game-security-83531e6c4683f798c570124bbb7564f3?ref=theamericanquorum.com) that the operation is precautionary and is not tied to a specific threat.

Mississippi Department of Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell said 65 to 70 officers from the Highway Patrol and Commercial Transportation Enforcement Division will work the weekend. ## What visitors should expect

The city is putting all available Oxford police personnel on duty and adding mounted officers from Mobile and New Orleans. The heightened posture follows intense attention around former Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin’s return as LSU coach.
