Central Florida’s weekend calendar spans two very different kinds of openings: Busch Gardens Tampa Bay begins its daytime, family-focused Halloween Spooktacular today, while Walt Disney World is two days from opening The Magic of Disney Animation at Hollywood Studios. Universal visitors have a Tuesday ticket-sale date to prepare for, and both Halloween Horror Nights and LEGOLAND Florida’s Brick or Treat are active this weekend.

## Five things to plan around

- **Busch Gardens’ Spooktacular starts today.** The daytime event runs from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 1 and is included with park admission.
- **The Magic of Disney Animation opens Monday.** Disney lists Sept. 14 for the Hollywood Studios attraction and its animation-focused experiences.
- **Rock the Universe tickets go on sale Tuesday.** Universal’s Christian music festival returns Jan. 22–23, 2027, with single-night and weekend options expected.
- **Universal’s fall nights require careful routing.** HHN occupies Universal Studios Florida on event nights while Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle runs on select nights at Islands of Adventure.
- **LEGOLAND Florida’s Brick or Treat is underway.** The official calendar lists a 10 a.m.–8 p.m. theme-park day today, longer than the resort’s water park and SEA LIFE Florida hours.

## Walt Disney World

The most important near-term change is [The Magic of Disney Animation](https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/attractions/hollywood-studios/magic-of-disney-animation/?ref=theamericanquorum.com), scheduled to open Monday, Sept. 14, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The complex includes Olaf Draws, where guests can sketch a character; Off the Page! character meetings; the Drawn to Wonderland children’s play space; and a Once Upon a Studio theater presentation. Disney’s attraction page currently shows no operating times, so Monday visitors should confirm the schedule in My Disney Experience before building a rope-drop plan around it.

EPCOT also changes its weekend entertainment lineup on Sunday. Couch performs its final scheduled Eat to the Beat concerts today at 5:30, 6:45 and 8 p.m.; Fitz and the Tantrums is listed for those times Sunday and Monday. Meanwhile, Sunday brings the next Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom. The event runs from 7 p.m. to midnight, with party-ticket admission beginning at 4 p.m. Because it is separately ticketed, regular day guests should verify Sunday’s park hours before committing to a late Magic Kingdom plan.

Travelers still comparing late-September admission should note that Disney’s 4-Day, 4-Park Magic Ticket has select start dates only through Sept. 26\. It begins at $436 plus tax and permits one visit to each of Disney’s four theme parks on four separate days, with use required within seven days of the selected start date. It does not permit repeating a park. Today’s [Disney World update](https://www.theamericanquorum.com/orlando-disney-update-2026-09-12/) has the full opening, concert, party and ticket breakdown.

## Universal Orlando

Universal’s next booking moment arrives Tuesday, Sept. 15, when [Rock the Universe](https://media.universalparksusa.com/press-releases/universal-orlando-resorts-rock-the-universe-returns-jan-22-23-2027-090826/?ref=theamericanquorum.com) tickets and vacation packages go on sale. The Jan. 22–23, 2027 festival is led by Elevation Worship on Friday and Josiah Queen on Saturday. Universal says buyers will be able to choose single-night tickets or a “Rock Your Weekend” product combining both festival nights with daytime theme-park access. Compare the products when prices and full terms appear rather than assuming the weekend bundle is automatically the better fit.

For this weekend, [Halloween Horror Nights 35](https://media.universalparksusa.com/press-releases/universal-orlando-resort-opens-the-gates-to-halloween-horror-nights-2026-082826/?ref=theamericanquorum.com) continues at Universal Studios Florida with 10 houses, four named scare zones, other street experiences and two live shows. HHN requires separate admission. Universal recommends beginning with houses near the back of the park because entrance-area queues tend to fill first. Guests with qualifying daytime or Scream Early access and same-night HHN admission can use Stay & Scream; on-site hotel guests have a priority event entrance available from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

At Islands of Adventure, Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle is scheduled on select nights through Nov. 1\. Death Eaters are also appearing on select days and nights in Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida. These offerings span two parks, and HHN changes Universal Studios Florida’s nighttime operation, so check the official app before trying to combine them. Today’s [Universal Orlando update](https://www.theamericanquorum.com/orlando-universal-update-2026-09-12/) explains the access choices and event calendar.

## Around Central Florida

[Halloween Spooktacular](https://buschgardens.com/tampa/events/spooktacular/?ref=theamericanquorum.com) begins today at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. The family event runs from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 1 and is included with general park admission. Activities include trick-or-treat stations, a costume parade, story time, dance entertainment and the debut of Mr. Skelly the Violin Player. Children age 13 and younger may wear costumes under the park’s rules.

The daylight event is separate from Busch Gardens’ Howl-O-Scream, which begins at 7 p.m. on selected nights and requires its own ticket. Families attempting both should understand that daytime admission does not automatically cover the adult-oriented nighttime event.

[Brick or Treat](https://www.legoland.com/florida/things-to-do/seasonal-events/brick-or-treat/?ref=theamericanquorum.com) is also running on select dates through Oct. 31 at LEGOLAND Florida Resort and is included with general park admission and select passes. The 2026 event adds Brick or Treat Street, an interactive walkthrough, alongside building activities, shows, light trails and nighttime attractions. LEGOLAND lists today’s theme-park hours as 10 a.m.–8 p.m.; the Water Park is listed from 11 a.m.–5 p.m., SEA LIFE Florida from 10 a.m.–7 p.m., and Peppa Pig Theme Park Florida from 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

## Check waits before you move

[**Open Florida’s near-real-time posted wait-time view**](https://parks.theamericanquorum.com/?state=FL&ref=theamericanquorum.com) before leaving your hotel or changing parks. Select an individual Disney, Universal or participating Florida park for a shorter, park-specific list. HHN visitors can choose the dedicated **“Universal Studios — HHN”** selector for available haunted-house waits rather than mixing them with daytime attraction queues.
