# Josh Turek wins Iowa U.S. Senate race, AP says

Democrat Josh Turek won Iowa’s open election for the U.S. Senate, defeating Republican Ashley Hinson, according to an explicit [Associated Press race-call bulletin](https://apnews.com/article/bccfed993cfb4e38bcc64e3737d72e21?ref=theamericanquorum.com).

The AP bulletin was published at 11:35:52 p.m. Eastern time on Nov. 3, 2026\. It identifies Turek as the winner of the statewide Iowa Senate contest. Election-night totals remain unofficial until Iowa completes its canvass and certification, so incomplete counts should not be treated as final margins.

Turek has represented Council Bluffs in the Iowa House since 2023 and is a Paralympic wheelchair basketball gold medalist. Hinson entered the race after serving in the U.S. House.
